Your first day of school…

Your first day of “Big school” approaches
And my thoughts, they turn to you.
I know I will feel so emotional,
Embarrass you; I will try not to do.

All dressed up in your uniform,
To others, a baby no more.
But to me, my baby you will always be.
My world; my very core.

So many thoughts go through my mind,
So many worries I have for you.
I worry you won’t eat all your lunch in time,
Or put on and off your shoes.

I worry someone will upset you,
Or that the teacher won’t know, if you are sad.
Or that you will find it all so overwhelming,
And that you will miss me and your Dad.

I know many parents feel this way,
Feeling these worries, I am not alone.
So I will concentrate on my wishes instead,
And the universe will grant them, I hope.
